Useful Information
Booking information
Bookings are for the whole cottage for the duration of your stay and the price includes bed linen, bath and hand towels, electricity and central heating.
Check in is from 3pm on your first day and check out is 10am on your last day. Bookings are for a minimum stay of 2 nights during winter (November to March, excluding Easter) and 7 nights during the rest of the year. But if there’s still last minute availability during the summer, we can sometimes sort out a short break, so just ask when it gets close to the time.
Changeover day is usually a Saturday in Shepherd’s cottage, and Friday in Waggoner’s Cottage; but again sometimes we can be flexible, please ask.
Payment information
A deposit of £100 is required to confirm your booking. The balance of your holiday is then due six weeks before your arrival date, unless your holiday starts within six weeks of booking, in which case the full amount is due at the time of booking.
Payment can be made by Visa or Mastercard through our website, or direct to us by cheque, bank transfer, or PayPal (which also accepts credit and debit cards).
Cancellations & liability
We strongly recommend you take out cancellation insurance. If you have to cancel your holiday, we will make every attempt to re-let the cottage and refund the monies paid to you, less a small administration fee. But, if the cottage cannot be re-let, you will be liable to forfeit the deposit only if you cancel more than 28 days before the start of your stay; or the full cost of the cottage if you cancel less than 28 days before the start of your holiday.
We would only cancel your holiday if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer alternative accommodation. However, if this was not possible or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you for the holiday. Our liability does not extend beyond this refund.
Access statement
It is highly advisable, if not essential, to have a car at the cottages. There is a regular bus service but the stop is about 800 away yards uphill and would take approximately 10 minutes to walk to at a steady pace.
There is a large car park immediately off the road and a garden path leads to the cottages. Waggoner’s Cottages is nearest to the car park, then the owner’s residence and Shepherd’s Cottage is farthest away. We are happy to assist you with your luggage.
Entrances: The front door is 350mm off the ground in two small steps.
Inside: All doors in the cottage are a standard width of 750mm. All the accommodation is one level.
Unfortunately there is not room to manoeuvre a wheelchair in the cottages.
